1. What worked in our station?
It really started working when we used analogies like the jelly beans and fevers.
2. What didn’t work?
On the first day people didn’t get when I was talking about climate change because they couldn’t relate to what I was reading or stating.
3. What was a difficulty that you hadn’t expected
When the kids wouldn’t listen but there was no teacher in sight we were told to not deal with the kids but when someone didn’t act appropriately we didn’t have a supervisor to go to or for example the second day when s kid grabbed a leach with his bare hand the teachers were freaking out and didn’t know what to do
4. Were there outstanding students at your station and why?
We had a couple of kids who just knew everything we were talking about and then there were kids who got what we talked about but didn’t know when we started it really caught on and stayed. In our class the most outstanding student would have to be Owen he spoke up and took control of our group well and he connected with the kids and helped them understand what we were talking about and he stuck to our saftety rules and brought it in the kids
5. What could we do better
I think we could have done more preparation and gotten used to it instead of doing an entire presentation on a book we could have just practiced it enough so that we could read and dodge some major mishaps like Owens iPad being bent by a kid stepping on it while critter dipping if we practiced we wouldn’t need to read.
6. My comments
It was cool to teach something to a kid and show them what we have been learning for years and it was also cool to teach the teachers and see everyone’s reactions to the big bugs I think we could have had a better job organizing the first day but the second day we were much more organized. My favourite part of the day was at the end I asked if anybody liked adaptions because nobody was saying it as their favourite and a little kid said no it was trash.Or when Rosè pulled up the giant water beetle after we just told the kids to not catch that bug
