River Paddling

On my trip I was paired with Kaelen, together we learned how to ferry, and master our flat water skills, the trip was fun but we almost went in about 4 times. Kaelen and I showed the importance of avoiding sweepers and strainers by going into them and showing what not to do. Jack was a good teacher and was very kind when we messed up and that made it a good overall day.

1. What worked in our station? It really started working when we used analogies like the jelly beans and fevers. 2. What didn’t work? On the first day people didn’t get when I was talking about climate change because they couldn’t relate to what I was reading or stating. 3. What was a difficulty that you hadn’t expected When the kids wouldn’t listen but there was no teacher in sight we were told to not deal with the kids but when someone didn’t act appropriately we didn’t have a supervisor to go to or for example the second day when s kid grabbed a leach with his bare hand the teachers were freaking out and didn’t know what to do 4. We had a couple of kids who just knew everything we were talking about and then there were kids who got what we talked about but didn’t know when we started it really caught on and stayed. 1) Any interpretation that does not somehow relate what is being displayed or being described to something within the personality or experience of the visitor will be sterile.When interpretation that does not relate to what is being displayed or relates to the personality of the audience becomes boring and hard to understand. Figure out what your audience already knows and start from there you can get more information in if you don’t blab on about something they already know. Know what the most popular questions on the topic so you can answer them 2)Information, as such, is not interpretation. Interpretation is revelation based upon information. But they are entirely different things. However, all interpretation includes information. Straight information is not interpreting, they are related but not the same.
