Reflection Questions

1. What do you remember best from outdoor ed from this past year I don’t get the question if your asking what I remembered,I remember the struggle before our wetland  interpretation trip when we had so many projects to hand in. We had our posters, flash cards, presentations and much more and the stress kept building up on top of the pile of work we had. It if your asking my favourite moment it would have to be the final canoe trip when we stopped and swan just having fun pushing each other in and the wet sandy mud in between my toes. Or when Rose pulled out the giant water bug while we were critter dipping. 2. What challenged you the most from this past year in outdoor ed The challenge for me was getting in projects on time when we had all of those projects. Megan was a good partner and helped me get those projects in sooner and helped me improve them. This was challenging for me because I get stressed out and anxious very easily and this was a lot for me. 3.What did you find intere
A) What I did well While canoeing I was in the front I had some good call outs and it came in handy to steer at the to sharply turn away from a rock. We never tipped and the rocks helped us along and we never fell even on the rapids. B) What I need to improve Near the end I was running out of energy and my hands were blistered so I started to slow down C) What I really enjoyed I really enjoyed going along side by side and having fun with my classmates. I also enjoyed the joy and excitement to see on Miriam, Avery, and Owen’s face when we saw the bus. I also enjoyed swimming with Miriam, and Owen, it was quite fun. We also got to see the cows cross the river. D) What I found difficult and why I found the ending difficult when the wind pushed up it just kept trying push us into sweepers and it was herd to get away from them. E)Would I recommend canoe excursion in the future. Why. Why not Yes I would it was really fun and cool to be with my friends. It could have been easier with

1. What worked in our station? It really started working when we used analogies like the jelly beans and fevers. 2. What didn’t work? On the first day people didn’t get when I was talking about climate change because they couldn’t relate to what I was reading or stating. 3. What was a difficulty that you hadn’t expected When the kids wouldn’t listen but there was no teacher in sight we were told to not deal with the kids but when someone didn’t act appropriately we didn’t have a supervisor to go to or for example the second day when s kid grabbed a leach with his bare hand the teachers were freaking out and didn’t know what to do 4. Were there outstanding students at your station and why? We had a couple of kids who just knew everything we were talking about and then there were kids who got what we talked about but didn’t know when we started it really caught on and stayed. In our class the most outstanding student would have to be Owen he spoke up and took control of our group

Friday with Mr.Miller

I learned that to start my presentation we should ask a starter question. This question helps us get the crowds attention. It also gives the kids something to think about. Our starting question is going to be  Can anyone tell me what the difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly is. Another thing I learned is to use a whiteboard to draw pictures of what you are talking about. For the water cycle pass the board around to whom ever is not speaking and they draw what they are talking about on the board. For the green hous effect you could draw the carbon cycle. For our section we need to not tell the kids to not do things because they weren’t thinking of it until we said it. The way he explained it was Bart from the simpsons would get the idea to break the rules you had set and dare his friends to do it. He also showed us that if we can’t fit everyone on the dock to put them on the shore . He showed us if a kid goes in to go down on all fours and grab them with one hand. This work
Tomorrow, Friday the 18th. Mr.Miller will be accompanying us to our wetlands to give us a more in depth view of how interpretation works and how to do it ourselves. We will also ask two or more questions about our stations and how to run them more effectively. The two questions that i would like to ask him are; "How do you go from a fun game to talking about something serious or vice versa without ruining the setting and 5he fun mood they had?”.and my second is " if the kids at my station are horsing around to get board how do I get them to stop without making them dislike me or my peers.

River Paddling

On my trip I was paired with Kaelen, together we learned how to ferry, and master our flat water skills, the trip was fun but we almost went in about 4 times. Kaelen and I showed the importance of avoiding sweepers and strainers by going into them and showing what not to do. Jack was a good teacher and was very kind when we messed up and that made it a good overall day.
